our engagement photos

i never thought it would be so difficult to get some pictures taken. i mean, we do this for other people on a fairly regular basis, and we always make them look amazing, so i don't know why i was so nervous for our own engagement photos, especially considering that i love our photographers' work and regularly stalk their blog in awe.

after weeks of working out with my very cool trainer chris, and some fine handy-work by the amazing jenn at stila, i finally picked out like 10 outfits and met our fabulous photographers jeff and erin for our photos. we started at balboa park and after a bit of coaching from jeff and seeing erin lying on the ground to get some shots, we were naturals (well almost).

although of course i was extremely critical of my pictures (i look tired, i have triple chins) i think they came out great, and can't wait to see the rest of them online. i especially liked the one of me with james blurred out, ha ha.

i think james looks like the little rockstar he is here, maybe my second fave

jeff and erin are amazing at what they do, and they are so much fun to hang out with. after our session, we headed to the gaslamp strip club for some martinis and steaks and a lot of fun conversation. we are so glad we chose jeff youngren photography for our wedding, to see the rest of the pictures, check out their blog.

wedding: dil and alex

it was a great end to a great year of fun and fabulous weddings. we headed up to la a couple weeks ago to be part of dil and alex's wedding, which was a great mix of sri lankan and greek cultures. when i first met dil, i knew she would be easy to photograph because she has an amazing smile and loves to laugh. and when james and i did their engagement photos a couple weeks earlier, we couldn't wait for the wedding because both dil and alex loved to have fun. ***friends and family, to be notified when the rest of the pictures are online, please sign the guestbook here

here are a few of our favorite engagement shots and some of the highlights of the wedding:

wedding...

i love this one of dil...

dil wore a veil that had been in the family for hundreds of years, it was really amazing...

look at this cute little guy, he was hammin' it up all night...

dil's smile and laugh were contagious...

look at the girls fighting for this bouquet...

one of dil's relatives gave a really funny toast...

and a final kiss to end the night...what a cute cake topper, hopefully not indicative of their marriage :)

dil and alex, congratulations on a wonderful wedding and best wishes for a long and happy marriage!

clark family

i met erin and mike through my friend dayna, who gets the award for the most referrals (thank you!). erin is dayna's sister-in-law and recently had an adorable baby boy, landon. i met them on sunday at their magazine-ready super cute house to take some family photos. landon was wide-eyed for the entire photo shoot, and loved the camera, though i couldn't get him to smile, maybe next time.

how perfect is this family?

we moved inside to get some more intimate family shots...

wide-eyed landon...

landon wouldn't sit still, so i had a tough time getting his cute little feet...

finally, as if to say goodbye, the slightest smile...

congratulations erin and mike, i look forward to watching landon grow!

julia and alex

we met my friend sonia and her husband during thanksgiving weekend at a large park in la, and i am not sure why, but i thought the park would be empty, assuming people in la don't go to parks. well it was packed, so we found what we thought was a peaceful spot in front of the lake and snapped away. julia wouldn't cooperate at first, but then got into the spirit when daddy hit himself on the head. alex was all smiles, and seems to love the camera already. here's a few of my faves...

julia loves sticking her tongue out, and has the cutest smile...

she's getting her mom's curls, watch out boys...

alex is quite the little model...

look at the adorable outfit, you can't even tell its about 80 degrees outside...

james' featured shots

as many of you know from reading our blog, james loves to work with the guys to get some really cool shots of them looking oh-so-cool. as a sort of way for him to show off this very cool work, we put together a new gallery on our website called cool guys. its under the featured galleries link, but here is a preview...

jan maternity session

i met jan through one the brides we did this year, leti, and jan wanted to get some pictures of her and zack before their new daughter is born in january. we met early one morning in balboa park, where we spent some time peacefully walking around the park, which was blissfully free of tourists. here are some of my faves from the shoot...jan was so happily pregnant and up for walking around the entire park.

into my favorite little corner...

and down to the bamboo, this is my favorite of jan...

the cool big trees...they look so tiny in comparison...

congratulations jan and zack, i am looking forward to meeting your new baby daughter!
