wedding: angela and josh

a few weeks ago, james and i took a trip out to alexandria, virginia to photograph angela and josh's wedding. although they live in san diego, angela's family lives out east, so she decided to have her wedding at one of the oldest churches in the us, st. mary's in old town.

angela is a good friend of mine, so it was a ton of fun getting to be part of her very special day in such a unique way. despite the extreme heat and humidity, angela still managed to look absolutely gorgeous, truly glowing. i am always amazed at women who can manage to look incredible even during periods of extreme stress, anxiety and excitement...

on a trip to italy, angela found these totally rockin shoes, which you'll see later allowed her to get some serious air during our photos.

angela as a fashion model--could she look any hotter in the dress and shoes?

angela had josh's ring engraved, which is such a personal touch...

a few of the details from the day...

while the girls were getting ready at the salon, and getting amazing blowouts, the guys were busy chillin with james

the shuttle never came to pick up the bride, so despite careful planning, there was a mad rush at the end to get angela to the church on time--nothing like stuffing a huge wedding dress into a bmw!

the ceremony was beautiful, starting with the flower girls and ring bearer...

we love it when the bride is actually excited to be married...

we walked across the street to a very cool private garden that angela's coordinator vicki found , as you can see, the bridal party was very excited (check out the air of everyone!)

we tried to make the pictures fast, because we were literally melting outside. despite the heat, we managed to get some great shots...

at the reception, which was held at the carlyle club the emcee was using a huge spotlight, which was a little distracting, except when it gave us cool shots like these...

instead of a wedding cake, angela chose gelato and mini treats, which were very delicious and were the perfect end to a perfect wedding.

ang and josh, thank you for letting us be part of your wedding day, we had a great time and know we'll look forward to many happy years of marriage. if you would like to be notified when all the pictures are online, please click here to sign the guestbook.

in a couple weeks we are heading out to the beach here in san diego to do a little after wedding shoot, so check back for additional pictures.

march 28

that's the big day--for what you ask? our wedding, of course. we have decided on this amazing little find in la jolla that has the most amazing views, the la jolla financial building. i know what you are thinking, financial building? its not what it seems. although it has a staid exterior on prospect street, there is a huge patio in the back that overlooks la jolla cove, with the same views as george's (yes, THE george's).

so for any brides that are currently looking for an affordable but very cool location, check them out. unfortunately, there aren't a lot of pictures online yet, but we are working on that.

wedding: kate and rich

you might remember the gorgeous couple we photographed last year, kate and rich--i think we could literally feel their love for each other through their engagement pictures. we were so excited for their wedding, which was held in august at azul restaurant in la jolla. The restaurant has amazing views of the la jolla cove, but the views were nothing compared to how beautiful kate looked. geneene from celebrations event planning helped pull all the details together to make everything look perfect, and she was a ton of fun to work with.

as the girls were getting ready, the guys were relaxing at the beach, hanging out, looking cool-- boy, if only the guys knew how much effort it takes to get wedding-day perfect!

kate's wedding dress was so beautiful, elegant and simple at the same time, matched her personality just perfectly.

kate chose vibrant purples for her bridesmaids, which really popped in the bouquets...

the ceremony was held in the courtyard, which was transformed with beautiful flowers...

kate looked radiant during the ceremony...

james got these very cool shots by hanging from the ceiling in the courtyard...no, really he was just upstairs looking down on them...

the cake was simply decorated with beautiful rose petals and orchids...

we couldn't get enough pictures of kate (sorry rich!)...

during the reception the toasts were pretty funny, especially the one from rich's dad...

after the reception, we headed down to the beach, in an attempt to beat the sweltering heat and humidity (yes, we do have humidity in san diego). we stopped for a quick kiss at la valencia hotel, one of the most picturesque places in san diego.

the bridal party braved the heat and joined us for a few pics, before they had to catch their flights home...

and now a few of kate and rich, enjoying each other's company after a very long (and early!) day...

kate was ready to jump right in the water, and james was ready to get the shot, but since they had to catch a flight later that day, kate and rich opted to wade in, just getting their feet wet. do i hear a trash the dress shot on the next trip to san diego? we'll keep our thanksgiving weekend open for you again :)

we had such a great time with you and your family and friends, thank you for letting us be part of your very special day and for allowing us to capture all the love between you.

bridal shoot: ana

most of us here on the west coast haven't heard of such a thing as a bridal shoot, but luckily, we met ana who is from the east coast, and we got to do an awesome bridal shoot in balboa park. ana got her hair and makeup done by the totally amazing nadia at gila rut salon in hillcrest, and she looked fabulous, like a model for a bridal magazine. so many people were staring at her in the park, they must have thought she was a celebrity. here's a few of our favorite shots from the day, it was hard to pick since there were so many great ones, especially when james made her laugh...

james trying to emulate the very fabulous jessica claire's flare...

ana's very cute blue shoes...

some artsy black and whites...

the light was perfect to capture her beautiful veil...

and her seductive side too...

ana, we wish we were traveling with you to north carolina, best wishes on a very happy wedding day, we are sure your fiance is going to FLIP when he sees how amazing you look!
