family: liana and frank

we met liana and frank through rosie, who we met through leti, who we met through my mom--pretty neat, we can grow our business through relationships. although it was tough to get the little one to smile at first, the mere mention of candy had him smiling up a storm. and the ducks didn't hurt either, he was the only one who wasn't scared of a thing! here are a few of our favorites from the session at polliwog park:

boudoir -- for adult eyes only!!

its not often that a photographer gets a client who is willing to try anything, especially when it involves taking off clothes and posing seductively. when one of my wedding clients mentioned that she was thinking about doing some boudoir shots for her fiance, i told her i would love to try doing some shots of her, as long as she was ok with me posting some on the blog and experimenting a bit with posing.

seeing as i had never done this type of shoot before, and had only seen some examples on sites like the very-cool boudoir divas, i was a little nervous. but i think the shot came out great, especially considering we didn't have any studio light and this was done in her apartment. of course it helps that she is absolutely gorgeous and has a body that was made for this...here are some of my favorites...

family: rosie and horacio

we met rosie and horacio through leti, one of our brides we photographed earlier this year, and although we had already done a family photo session with them, they wanted to do another one to show off their newly worked-out bodies. this time, we met at polliwog park in manhattan beach, and had some fun running around the pond, climbing trees and chasing ducks. here are a few of our faves from the day...

wedding update

we have been so crazy busy lately with weddings and engagements and family photos that we have barely had time to do the planning for our own wedding, which is coming up rather quickly. but last week, we met with the coolest photographers in san diego and chose them for our wedding. we are so excited, not only do they do awesome work, but they are so fun to hang out with, and they'll fit perfectly with our party.

so who are they? jeff youngren photography, husband and wife team, super cool, very fun, and excellent photographers. so many people have asked us who we were choosing, and i don't think it was even a question, since we knew we needed someone who could keep james and i acting like groom and bride rather than photographers for the day :) jeff and erin have so many great ideas and are so proficient that we won't be wanting to offer any tips or advice.

we'll be shooting our engagement session with them next month sometime, now we just have to pick the location.

wedding: adrienne and dave

it was an uncharacteristically gray day in september when we celebrated the wedding of adrienne and dave at sunset cliffs, near ocean beach in san diego, but their excitement and adrienne's smile brightened everything and made for the most perfect wedding.

adrienne and her girls got ready at a cute little salon in ob -- details -- props to the stylists for making adrienne and her party look absolutely amazing. i love the slightly boho, so romantic look that adrienne had, just beautiful.

a couple of the details...

adrienne got ready at the dana, a very chic hotel on mission bay. they have this incredibly blue glass window, where adrienne posed like the diva she is...

adrienne and the bridal party arrived in style, in a vintage car from haynes chauffering -- lance, the chauffeur was the best.

while the girls were getting ready, the guys were having some fun with james...

the officiant rev powers was the best we have seen, he even stopped in the middle of the ceremony to talk about dave's ring and commented on how nice it was...

a little fun after the ceremony...

a couple of our favorite shots of adrienne and dave...

the reception was held at marina village, in a beautiful room with water view. the first dance was fun and romantic...

a well-behaved cake cutting...

and the finale of the evening, break dancing!!! these guys were outrageous, and really good

adrienne and dave, thank you for letting us be part of your very fun and special day, we wish you the best for a very long and happy marriage, and look forward to seeing you back in sd soon.

the newest addition...

not to our family, of course. i know most of you probably went crazy when you read that headline, but one thing at a time, let us get married first, and then we may get a new plant.

one of my best friends recently moved to charlotte, and on our latest trip east, james and i spent some time with her family. they just had a new baby, well 6 months ago, but its still new to us. zachary is one of those rare babies that smiles a lot, but he also has some very funny faces, which we were lucky enough to capture. here's a few of our favorite pictures of zachary...

and of course, we couldn't forget matthew, my favorite little 2 year old, who has quite possibly the bluest eyes we have ever seen...

we had so much fun on our trip, and are looking forward to seeing you out here soon. say hi to my little friend matthew :)

the fosters

last month, james and i took a little trip out east. and after our friends' wedding, we headed down to charlotte, nc. we spent the last day of our trip with our friends and their new son, taking pictures, having bbq, and drinking wine. it was a great end to our week-long adventure, here are some of our favorite pictures from the day...
