sydney and rowan are 2!

you would think that james and i would hate going to little kids birthdays since we don't have kids. quite the opposite, we love birthdays, especially when they have lots of yummy treats and a pool. the kids love to swim with uncle jimmy and i love to taste all of the sweets, which my best friend deanne made by hand, check these out, i think she has missed her calling...

sydney got to share her birthday party this year with her friend rowan, great idea and tons more fun...

the kids had a great time in the pool and enjoyed the monkey cakes, maybe a little too much...

happy birthday sophie!

despite the fact that james and i don't have kids, we have managed to attend our fair share of 1-year old birthday parties over the last few years. and although you would think that we would have nothing to do at one of these parties, bringing a huge camera along usually ensures that there is plenty to do.

last month, james and i took a little trip to appleton, wisconsin, which is about 2 hours north of milwaukee, to see one of my best friends and his family, and to celebrate his daughter's 1-year costume birthday party.

here are some of our favorite shots from the weekend, you just don't get fall foliage in san diego, so it was fun to actually see leaves on the ground and have to wear a coat in october.
